Good Morning Precision Pilates Walkers!
It’s time to take advantage of our perfect weather and get these walking groups started. Each week, we will offer three walking groups on the following days and times:
Tuesdays at 9am
Wednesdays at 11am
Thursdays at 4pm
We will be leaving the studio promptly at those times so please try to be there 10-15 minutes prior to the start time so we can be ready to… go. Unless it is raining buckets, we will be holding each group as scheduled. Please dress accordingly. Layers are important as are good walking shoes…know that we will work up a sweat and get those heart rates going! Please bring water and anything else i.e. inhalers, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc… If you have a heart rate monitor, it is encouraged that you wear it during these walks but this is optional.
We can’t wait to get these walks started and help you reach more of your fitness goals.

Basketball Star Jason Kidd Wished He’d Started Pilates Long Ago
Posted by Pivotal Motion Pilates on August 18th, 2008
by Henry Abbot (Men’s Journal)
Basketball Pilates Buff and NBA All-Star Jason Kidd’s and his wife Pilates enthusiast Joumana have a great bodies. Their secret is Pilates. Back in 2001 Joumana Kidd told Jason to try it. He put her off for a few years . When he relented he confesses “my first thought,”, “was that it couldn’t be that hard.” His first session with Pilates specialist Susan Whitlow turned out to be “a real eye opener,” he recalls. He kept at it, and noticed amazing things happening to his NBA-abused body. In addition to getting stronger and more flexible, he says he felt “ready to go tackle the challenges you’re faced with. It’s almost like coffee or something. It gives you a little kick.” “The more I got into it and the more I understood it, the better off I felt,” says Kidd. “And then the thing was, I just wanted to keep doing it.” Before long, Jason was stealing Joumana’s Pilates appointments. He learned quickly and his shape changed. He loosened everything up, he re-sculpted his center, and he did really well.”
He began working from the inside out, developing and balancing muscle groups he had never even focused on before and that has been doing wonders for his game. In addition to the obvious benefits of stretching and strengthening everything, Pilates, he says, has made him “focus on the part of the body that you’re working, and that has translated into the mental part of my game becoming stronger.”
Then, thanks to regular sessions on the Pilates machines in his basement and at the team’s practice facility, he has . he says. “I just try and keep a fine line of a little iron and a lot of the Pilates machine,” in addition to the exercise he gets on the court. Thanks to the fact that Kidd found Pilates at about the same time as team Strength and Conditioning Coach Rich Dalatri, the Nets became the first NBA team to embrace Pilates. Several of the players now have the equipment at home, which may have contributed to the Nets’ staying almost injury-free. Kidd finished a close second in league-wide MVP voting thinks Pilates deserves some credit. That’s why he says it’s a good bet that in the injury-riddled NBA, “Pilates is not going to be a secret for long.” At 34, Kidd is having perhaps the best season of his career. It is unusuial that a player his age is still considered one of the best at his position in the world and has actually improved as of late. But thats what Pilates does for athletes that are looking for the edge.
There is simply no better workout for building deep internal core strength, developing long and lean muscles that are resilient under stress, preventing injury, and for fine tuning mental focus and deep core strength allows the body to move from a center/anchor that, enables Pilates Buff Jason Kidd, arguably the best Point Gard / Basketball players in the world seemingly defies gravity and continue playing long and strong. Real Men Do Pilates.
Pivotal Motion Pilates can help you achieve your “inner athlete”. You may not be a professional athlete, but you can train like one!

Hey, just wanted some feedback from everyone, we often receive inquires from other people wanting to use the studio for different classes or workshops, we have never done it because it is our Pilates place. Recently though, we have been thinking about adding some cardio related classes, maybe Zumba, maybe something else. Pilates strengthens us and cardio burns, we have always strongly suggested both. Any feedback on this, would you be interested?
We are starting to get our Precision Pilates team together for this years Race for the Cure, we are also going to be at the 2011 Womens Show, details of both to follow and thanks for playing with us!!

I am finally on a regular Massage schedule with Denise, our new massage therapist at the studio and can I ever tell difference in my body! Denise has an amazing way of working the body so deep and specific that I felt a total release and I never had to grit and bare it to get to that point. The first couple of times I had an hour massage and felt good, however, Denise said she would like and hour and a half to really work through my whole body and that made a world of difference….. in my first longer massage she worked my legs and it felt like my legs were leaner, released and relaxed even though I thought they were just fine prior to the massage! In my last session she worked my entire body, my abdomen is an area where I accumulate much of my stress and tension, and it was all gone after the session. I had the same release experience with my legs and my ribcage. I felt releases where I didn’t even realize I had tightness or tension and afterwards I felt longer and leaner; we all know how much I love that! The next day it was as if I had worked my obliques, when all I had done was lay there relax and let Denise do all the work. She is an amazing body worker and I can not say enough good things about her, clearly we are blessed to have her as a part of our team and Precision Family. I highly recommend everyone give yourself a treat and make it a point to get on her table for at least a four session treatment plan so she can have an opportunity to do her magic, she compliments our Pilates work so well.
We kicking into gear here! We are doing Pilates, having fun and enjoying all that we have earned. I had the pleasure the other day of noticing a client at a walking event, when she came to our studio she had significant spine issues, she looked slumped over. I was amazed to see how strong, straight and proud she was, when I mentioned it to her she smiled and told me that she knew! I love what I do and I love who I do it with, thanks to all of you! Amber
I have a copy of the article Lolita San Miguel wrote for the Pilates Style September/October 2010 issue, on footwork. It is a great illustration of what we have been talking about in class. I am going to try and post it here or on facebook. If you can’t find it there, email me and I will get it to you.
Thank you Amber
Hello, just wanted to share, our friend Cassie Taylor (now Cassie Price) married Matt Price on October 9, 2010 at Elkins Resort. Beautiful Couple
As most of you know, it is hard for me to get excited about something and not share it. I have recently been looking at my diet and recieving some excellant advice and guidance on what works best for my body. I found out that I have some food intolerances but the main thing is to eliminate refined sugar (Karma really is nasty). This has been made easier by a couple of recipes that were given to me, I love these and wanted to share them with you, please share yours on the forum page if you have them. Love Ya Amber
Peanut Butter Granola
2 cups rolled oats, uncooked
¼ cup sesame seeds
½ cup chopped peanuts (or walnuts or almonds)
¼ cup wheat germ
2/3 cup honey
1/3 cup peanut butter (or other nut butter)
Combine all ingredients and blend well. Spread over bottom of greased pan. Bake in 300 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Check about halfway through and flip or turn over for even baking. Loosen but cool in pan. Break into bite-sized pieces. Store in sealed container in refrigerator. Use as breakfast cereal or for snacks.
2 Cups Nuts (pecans)
2 Cups Dates
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
Grind nuts in food processor.
Add dates, vanilla & maple syrup.
Roll into ball s and roll in unsweetened shredded coconut & maple sugar.
We want to welcome you to the Precision Pilates community. We’d like to use this blog as a tool to share ideas and to keep you up to date about us.
